We will not be suing Punxsutawney Phil. He has no assets, has caused no actual damages, nor do we have any spare volunteers to handle the paperwork
Seriously, with the snow, cold temperatures and damp field conditions observed during Field Day, there is no way the fields will be playable on time for practices to start. With school vacations coping up as well, participation would also be limited due to family travel, so don’t be surprised if the fields are closed beyond the melting of snow. For those not familiar with the reasoning, it’s not so the kids don’t fall prey to dirty mud, or keeping the interiors of your cars clean. It is so the fields do not harden into misshapen, dangerous, ankle-turning messes. If we are fortunate, the other associations that use our fields will have the same regard for their players’ safety.
